Florence
Ahhh Florence. Home of the hottest stone guy in the world, Michaelangelo's "David" (or Mike's Dave as the boys would say), the most eye-catching church, the coolest hostel and the meanest waitress ever.
We left Rome early in the morning and bought tickets on the fast train to Firenze, a.k.a. Florence.  The fast train really was fast... it got us there in about 3 to 4 hours. The next problem we had to face:  getting a hostel for the night.
Highlights

-  our cool hostel:  it was originally a church so they converted it by installing these metal room very much like jail cells.  The best part:  individual all-in-one toilets.

Grade: A+.  I liked the city's tight streets and old buildings, churches and history, and I liked the fact that it was very walkable.  Mike's Dave was another plus, as was the hostel, the nice people.  I didn't like all the full hostels, and the super long line-up to get inside the Galleria Accademia... and there were tonnes of tourists!
