Cologne
The Great Birkenstock Caper.
We had a mission:  find and track down Birkenstock factory, purchase comfortable sandals for a reasonable price, go see Cologne (Köln), go home feeling satisfied that justice to feet shall be done.

We spent most of our time and energy in Bad Honnef, not Cologne. What's in Bad Honnef? Well, Bad Honnef just happens to be the home of Birkenstock factory, where we discovered CHEAPO Birks!

Highlights

-  Going to Bad Honnef expecting to buy one pair of Birkenstocks.  Coming away with TWO with money to spare!

-  Getting free Doppelkeks tossed at us by a passing Circus truck.  I love free food!

-  Schokoladenmuseum.  Yum... chocolate fountain with wafers....

Grade: A.  We got our Birkenstocks and plenty of them, but by the time we got to Köln, we only had time to see the Schokoladenmuseum.  By the time we got out of there, almost everything we wanted to see was closed but we checked them out anyway.  Also, note to self:  lugging around a huge bag of sandals while sightseeing is not fun.
